Repulsion, unfortunately, have been forced to drop off of MDF 2008. As a result of their flights being purchased several months ago and not being able to receive a refund from the airline company, we plan to use the flight vouchers to have them play in 2009. Below you can find an official statement from the band:
"It is with profound regret and great personal disappointment that
Repulsion must cancel it's appearance at the Maryland Death Fest 08'.
One of our band members has very recently suffered a personal loss and
cannot attend.
We put in a massive effort and exhausted all the options available to us
to avoid having to cancel, but with only a few days left there simply
wasn't enough time to bring in a musician in to fill his invaluable
shoes. We're very sorry and want to apologize personally to Ryan and
Evan of MDF as well as our fans. Furthermore, we urge you to please
continue to go and support the show and the incredible roster of this
year's performers."
A replacement and any changes to the running order on Saturday will be addressed tomorrow.

MDF 2008 tickets are now available to order and pick up at will call. We will no longer be mailing any orders received between now and the fest and you can pick up your tickets at the front entrance of the venue. Just bring along your receipt of purchase and you're all set. Order tickets here.
Sublime Cadaveric Decomposition were forced to cancel their apperance at MDF 2008 as they were sent back to France from Canada. We will not be replacing them with anyone and doors will now open at 12:30 PM on Sunday, May 25th with the first band on at 1:05 PM. We figured most of you will be hungover and tired at this time anyway, so we wanted to be nice guys and let you sleep a bit longer. This means you shouldn't e-mail us about playing, nor e-mail us about playing next year as that is the last thing we are focused on at the moment.
Food at MDF: This year we have a permit to close off the street in front of Sonar which will allow us to have food vendors set up there. There will be a variety of food available in front of the venue this year, including vegetarian options.

Skarp have been announced to appear at MDF VI as the last replacement band. They will be playing first on Friday and Circle of Dead Children have been moved to 5:50 on Sunday. We expect
that these will be the last changes made to the running order.
Also, MDF VI T-shirts have been made available to pre-order at the following location. Pre-orders for T-shirts are for a dicounted price of $13.00 and you will be able to pick them up at the
MDF merch table if you're attending the fest. Just bring the receipt of your purchase and your shirt will be waiting for you. This will ensure that you get the size and color that you want
as we tend to run out of certain sizes every year at the fest.

Deranged, Disavowed and the Arson Project have cancelled their appearance at MDF 2008. Dying Fetus (Maryland) and Circle of Dead Children (Pennsylvania)
are two of the replacements that have been confirmed to appear at the festival. The third replacement will be announced soon. Please do not write us about playing.
A statement from all of the bands that have cancelled can be found below:
Statement from Deranged:
Martin Schönherr from DERANGED here.
Sad news...A couple of weeks ago Rikard Wermén (drums) decided to leave the band. He's been handling all of the bands correspondence (as well as any other matters concerning the band) the last 15 years and told us that he basically was fed up didn't wanted to do that any longer and therefore decided to leave the band. He's been doing a really great work and has
always managed to squeeze in time to handle the bands business. He also said numerous times that he will stay and do whatever shows that was booked but wouldn't handle any correspondence and the likes, and even said if we managed to get a tour later this year, he would stay for that as well in case we hadn't managed to get a new drummer. Fair enough and we thank him eternally for that…
Now, Johan Axelsson (guitar) said that he didn't wanted to do the booked shows and wanted to split the band up (coz of reasons unknown) which leaves me and Tomas Ahlgren (bass) no other choice then hereby say that we can't play the following festivals, therefor Deranged are from now on split up.
Statement from Disavowed:
We are very disappointed to cancel the MDF. We were really looking
foreward to come to the states again, especially playing the MDF was
something we were very enthousiatic about. Unfortunately, the
combination of recent injuries and other commitments forced our
drummer to cancel the MDF. We regret this decision. Hopefully
Disavowed will have the opportunity to come to the states anytime soon
Gerben & Disavowed
Statement from the Arson Project
We're sorry to inform you that we won't be coming to the US. Our tour didn't get planned/booked in time because our tourbooker kind of screwed us (no names cuz it might just be our view of the whole thing) so we had to cancel the whole tour for economic reasons, we cannot afford to fly over to the states to play a single show, even if its on the greatest festival in North America.

5 more bands have been confirmed for MDF 2008:
Anaal Nathrakh - England
Blood Duster - Australia

It is likely that we will confirm just 1 more band sometime in the next month or two. We will assemble the running order for each day shortly after that. In the meantime, 3 day passes remain on sale at the following location.
We have also entered the planning stages to film and produce a double DVD of MDF 2008. The double DVD set would feature at least 2 or 3 songs of every band performing at MDF using several cameras and angles on stage and in the crowd. We also plan to have several cameras filming other areas of the fest, including back stage, outside, random people and their drunken antics, vendors, etc. It will probably take many months to go through the footage and edit it, but it will surely be worth the wait.

We'd also like to make it known that MDF VI will be a 3 day event. Friday the 23rd of May will no longer be considered a pre-fest, but rather the first day of the festival and will be made just a bit longer. You can expect the first day of MDF (Fri, 23rd) to begin around 6 PM and finish around midnight. The Saturday and Sunday of the fest can expect to start at the same time as previous years in the early afternoon. We expect to confirm approximately 36 bands in total for MDF VI that will span the 3 days, and once all bands have been announced tickets will go on sale. You will be able to purchase tickets by individual day, 3 day pass, and Saturday/Sunday only.
Furthermore we have received news that a permit is in possession of Sonar to block off the street in front of Sonar during MDF VI. One of the biggest advantages of the permit is that it will allow us to have food vendors outside to make it even easier for you to buy food during the festival. Stay tuned for the next band announcements. There are still a lot of great things in the works.
