Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can my band play the fest? / What does my band have to do to play the fest?

Generally we personally contact bands that we'd like to have perform at MDF, but sometimes a band will write us that we have interest in. We'll read any e-mail that is sent to us, but please know that the majority of the bands which play the festival are initially contacted by us. You can send a link to MP3's, but please don't attach MP3's to your e-mail! We'll read every e-mail that is sent to us, but it is not possible for us to respond to every request.

PLEASE NOTE that the billing is completely full now and we aren't interested in considering anything for the 2009 fest until 2008 is over.

Q: Will my tickets be mailed to me if I order through the web site?

Yes, they will be mailed to you.

Q: How long will it take for ticket delivery?

All ticket orders received in October, 2007 will be sent on the 1st of November. Ticket orders received between November and May will be mailed out once per week, so you should expect to receive the tickets within 5-10 days.

If you have any questions about ordering tickets, the status of your order, etc, please e-mail Alicia and NOT Ryan or Evan. Thank you.

Q: Can I order will call tickets during the week leading up to festival?

Assuming tickets are still available at this time, you will be able to order will call tickets during the week before the fest. In general, if you would rather have your ticket placed at will call and not mailed to you, just let us know when you order.

Q: Will tickets for MDF sell out? / Should I buy my tickets in advance?

In 2008 that is highly possible. It is very highly recommended that you buy an advance ticket for MDF VI. It's not known if the festival will sell out in advance, but if not, we expect that only a limited amount of tickets will be available at the door. Check here again for more information on this matter in April and May.

Q: What is your procedure for issuing media passes at MDF?

If you are with a serious publication or other media, please contact us for more information and possible cooperation. Press passes will not be given to everyone who contacts us asking for one and we will be selective with the process. If we determine that it would be reasonable to issue you a press pass, we will contact you. It's not necessary to send follow-up e-mails if you don't hear back from us.

PLEASE NOTE that we will not be issuing media passes just because you have a video camera or have received a pass in the past. The media pit in front of the stage will be strictly reserved in 2008 for official photographers and security. There cannot be a cluster of people in this area as security needs space to ensure the safety of people crowd surfing. Under rare circumstances, we will issue a limited media pass good for ONLY the first 3 songs of each band. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Q: Are still cameras allowed?

As usual still cameras are permitted at MDF.

Q: Will there be a pre-fest show in 2008?

NO. MDF is now a 3 day festival, commencing on Friday, May 23rd.

Q: Last year we could leave the venue to find restaurants when we were hungry, but wouldn't it be cool to have some food vendors just outside of the venue?

Yes, it would be cool. So cool that a permit is in possession that will allow us to have food vendors in front of Sonar and close off part of the street. We'll do our best to have a varied selection of food available, including vegetarian options.

Q: What is the closest airport to the festival?

BWI Airport is the closest airport. It is only a 10-12 minute taxi ride from the airport to the downtown area (where the festival is this year).

Q: If I take a greyhound bus, what station should I take it to?

Take the bus to the "Downtown" station and not the "Travel Plaza" station. From the downtown station, you could walk the distance to the festival area and hotels in the downtown area. For the less adventurous, you can take a taxi from the bus station for only a few dollars.

Q: Where is Maryland? Where is Baltimore?

Yes, sometimes we are even asked this question. For those who don't take the time to look at a map, Maryland is located on the mid-atlantic region of the east coast. Baltimore is central to the state and also the largest city in the state. It is 3 hours south of New York City, 1.5 hours south of Philadelphia and 45 minutes north of Washington DC.

Q: Where can I park my car?

There is a huge parking lot directly across from Sonar with enough size to accomodate the entire capacity of the venue. This lot is shared with a few other clubs in the area, but as a result of the fest beginning in daytime hours, you will have no problem finding a parking place.

Q: Can I buy you dudes a beer?

Of course you can. Thanks.
